TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012         Carlsbad CA (April 23, 2012)– Dragon is pleased to announce Forest Bailey has joined the family as a member of their pro team of eclectic snowboarders. Currently living in Boulder, Colorado, by way of Vermont, Forest brings an innovative bag of tricks wherever he travels, resulting in a slew of accomplishments in his 20 short years. His biggest result yet was clinching the Gold Medal in Snowboard Street at Winter X Games 2012. Forest continues to showcase his original, free flowing style in contests and video clips across the globe so look for much more from him in the future. "I’m very excited to be joining the Dragon Alliance," said Bailey on joining the team. "With the most proper goggles and a team stacked full of homies, it was pretty much a no brainer." “We could not be happier to announce the addition of Forest to the team,” says Dragon’s Snow Marketing Manager, Alex Pashley. “I really feel that he compliments the rest of the crew nicely and can’t wait to see what he will bring in the future.” Look for Forest to bring diversity and skate influenced style to Dragon’s already notable urban team including Zak Hale and Frankie April, along with the rest of the global snow team with backcountry legends Gigi Ruf and Jamie Lynn plus pipe phenoms Danny Davis and Luke Mitrani.     Pro Snowboarder Vera Janssen and her GoPro Hero2 take us on a journey through the deep powder in BC. Join her as she rips through rocky chutes and old growth forest. Vera had a baby on Feb 8th but turns out March 2012 was the heaviest snow month on record in Whistler. Fun fact: riding powder is the best way to get back in shape after a pregnancy! This last weekend was the First Annual Throwback Throwdown where athletes ride a 22' pipe in the morning and then ride a 5' hand dug pipe in the afternoon to pay homage to the '80's... Danny Davis and Luke Mitrani decided that it would be a good idea for them to show up and shred. People were tripping that these two made the trek to CO for the weekend. Best part is that Danny and Luke both got disqualified as they refused to wear helmets as they had spent a small fortune on hats the night before. Here are a couple pics from the event.   Mountain towns are sick, and Whistler, BC is one of the best places on earth for pow, filming, and partying. Sometimes you just need to get out for a minute though, go somewhere chill with some buddies and get some shred. Bralorne is one of those chill spots, and Andrew Geeves is one of my close friends I love to shred with. This is the Andrews and crew tearin' up Bralorne, Best shit ever. Danny Davis and Luke Mitrani are currently in Breckenridge, CO for the Throwback Throwdown which is going down this Saturday. The Contest should be pretty sweet as it starts in the 22' pipe and ends in a 5' hand dug pipe. Oh, and nothing over a 540 can be thrown... should be good. (April 3, 2012) - Consistently raising the bar all winter long, Dragon congratulates Spencer O'Brien on her stellar season, which included clinching the overall Dew Tour Championship title and the Toyota Athlete of the Year Award. Spencer also took home gold at the 2012 World Snowboarding Championships with a flawlessly executed run that included a switch backside 540 and frontside 720. It was this winning combination of tricks that continued to separate her skills from the rest of the women's field for the winter's entirety. Starting strong with consecutive Dew Tour wins at the Nike Open in Breckenridge and the Toyota Championships in Utah, Spencer continued her streak in Europe, winning the World Snowboarding Championships Slopestyle division in Oslo and bagging the silver medal at Winter X Games Europe in Tignes, France. “It feels amazing. It’s still sinking in and the idea of being World Champion is so crazy. I’m so happy, so excited and so proud of all the girls," said a humble yet thrilled O'Brien regarding her win at the World Championships. "Spencer was on fire all season long," says Dragon Team Manager, Alex Pashley. "The momentum began at the Nike Open in Breckenridge and just kept rolling along. I could not be happier for her and her achievements. She is truly an asset to Dragon.” With the addition of Slopestyle to the 2014 Olympics, Spencer will continue to make her mark on snowboarding as she works toward her goal of earning a spot on the Canadian Olympic team. Shaking things up and stealing the spotlight at several events and photo shoots since being crowned Rookie Of The Year by Transworld Snowboarding in 2009, Spencer is an important member of the Dragon family and we look forward to fully supporting her future endeavors as she continues to tackle her goals. True, he has amazing style, he’s awesome to watch, but he’s still pigeonholed as a contest dude. I recently sat down with him at the 2012 Burton US Open of snowboarding and found out what he’s been doing, what he’s going to do next, and when is he going to film that video part that we are all dying to see. Great times were had as Craig from the UK brought a few retailers, and his team of vagrant shreds as well. Everyone had a blast.. Here are a few pics to check out.   646 miles north of Salt Lake City lays Whitefish Mountain Resort in Western Montana. Rippin’ snowboarders Travis Parker and Jesse Grandkoski grew up in these mountains so you know there must be something special, awesome and a little weird up here. We were all pretty skeptical of the conditions leading up to the trip as Whitefish had only been receiving a few inches of fresh snow here and there in the weeks prior. Nonetheless our crew of Zach Seibert, Tommi Ylianttila, Brooke Geery and myself headed north to see if Whitefish could reach “YoBeat Approved” status. For the rest of the story click HERE.
